Unity 2006

i went to a festival. yup. this festival was "the largest one in michigan" but was only a couple thousand ppl... so not the biggest ive been to, but it was by far the cleanest and most organized. the stage was very impressive and the mulititude of flat pannel tvs on the stage was a big plus. the first day brought me 2 artists i had never seen before and one of my alltime favorites.

after a long day of waiting in line to get in, i finally did, and made my way to the front. i waited some more and talked to some nice people next to me... then FINALLY the music started. aaron shust was the first to play and i was really excited to hear my savior my god... and it was FLIPPIN AWESOME! they did this sweeeeet intro... gave me goosies! great new artist - check him out!

lincoln brewster

very funny guy... lots of energy... great set... good songs... great jokes... good timing of the train that came through... all around, A+.

Chris Tomlin... amazing as always! such a great night of worship and dancing! songs (in no particular order): forever, made to worship, holy is the lord, PARTY, how great is our god/how great thou art, your grace is enough, famous one, everylasting god (brenton brown song that melts my face off), indescribable, amazing grace (from the new movie coming out)

2nd day... 2 more new bands and 2 oldie but goodies. first off... casting pearls. bryan (formally of the newsboys) and his band were stinkin awesome and lots-o-fun. he told a very touching story about his grandma and how on her death bed came to know jesus. not a dry eye in the place. such a great god moment where you see first hand how amazing he really is.

salvador was next... lots of things going on... too much to watch at some points. the horns were awesome and blew my ears out... but it was great none the less.

thousand foot krutch blew up next... pretty much literally. i had to get ear plugs and im glad i dropped the $2 for them cuz i woulda been deaf for sure. the mix was really bad for them cuz i couldnt understand one word he said. lots of crazy kids appeared outta no where for them and it was exciting... and loud.

the best part of the day was of course, the newsboys... and they threw out all the stops. this was my 8th time seeing them... and it was the best. the worship was unreal... so much excitement in the air... and it was very windy!

during the last song... the whole drum platform got raised up about 10 feet.... then the best part.... it started spinning around.... and THEN rotated forward so duncan was basically being spun around like a wheel! he was (thankfully) strapped in w/ a seatbelt type apparatus, as well as all the drums. he played the whole time while spinning... totally flippin sweet.

these 2 days were just what the doctor ordered cuz i yesly needed a re-energizing experience to refill my cup. religion and beliefs have come up a lot lately at camp, and in my cabin during late night talks. it is so very hard to work with lots of ppl who constantly pull you the wrong way and give you reasons to think that doing the wrong this is okay. i feel satan is trying to tear me down little by little, but thank the Lord for festivals and music. music is the weapon of the future... my future for sure.
